Our Response to the COVID-19 Crisis

updated 03-20-20 at 5pm

Through Friday, March 27th, we will be open for remote shopping, as described below, but closed to foot traffic. Between March 28th and April 10th, we will be complying with Minnesota’s Stay at Home Order and not coming into the shop. That means that we won’t be able to prepare packages for curbside pickup, home delivery, or shipping. But all is not lost! For one thing, as of now you still have two days to order supplies to keep you occupied, soothed, and productive during this crisis. Also, the order is in place for a finite amount of time — two weeks — and during that time we will continue to keep our online community connected. Stay tuned to our website and social media for news about opportunities for online classes, virtual Open Stitch, and more.

Accessing the Shop Remotely — ends at 5:50pm Mar. 27th

Although our doors are closed to in-person traffic, our phone line will remain open (507-645-1330) and we’ll continue checking our email (info@northfieldyarn.com) through closing on Friday, March 27th. We can sell items over the phone as long as you have a credit or gift card to use. We also have a number of items for sale on our website, and plan to add more to the webstore over the coming weeks.

To make it easier for you to shop from home, we are temporarily changing our shipping terms, and will charge only $1 for shipping orders under $50 within Minnesota. (As usual, orders of $50 or more ship for free.) Alternatively, we have set up a “curbside pickup” location in front of the building, and you can arrange to pick your purchase up there when you call.

Classes and Gatherings

In light of the MDH guidance, we have cancelled all classes and gatherings for the time being. Our classes are small, but we are not able to accommodate the social distancing recommendation, which is six feet per person, and many of our customers are among the group most vulnerable to this virus. This cancellation applies to our weekly Punchcard Clinics, as well. We are currently exploring options for online classes and help sessions, so stay tuned.

If you have paid for a class that has been cancelled, we would love to transfer your registration to a future class (and we do intend to reschedule cancelled classes to a later date, although at this point we are looking at mid-May at the earliest). Alternatively, we can issue you a refund.

Growing our Online Community

We are focused on finding ways to keep our community connected in the absence of our brick and mortar home. For instance, there is now an online forum for everyone playing March Madness Bingo.  It’s a great diversion during these challenging times, and it’s not too late to get involved. (Find all the details here.)  Stay tuned to our social media; more ideas to come.

Thank you for your support as we negotiate our way through these uncertain times. Keep Calm and Cast On!
