Northfield’s annual Winter Walk takes place on Thursday, December 12 from 5 – 9 pm. Stop by the shop to make an aromatherapy sachet, vote in our holiday ornament contest, sample a delicious No Chewing Allowed truffle (and perhaps purchase a truffle gift box!), and cheer on the shop manager as she rashly attempts to knit a sweater in just four hours.
We are hosting an ornament contest this year, culminating at Winter Walk, Thursday, Dec. 12th. The timeline is as follows:
Nov. 30: Deadline for dropping off ornaments at the shop
Dec. 6-12: Ornaments on display in our window; votes are collected
Dec. 13: Winner announced. (Winner will receive a $25 Northfield Yarn gift card!)
The ornament must be created using one of the following fiber-crafts:
- Felting (needle-felting or wet-felting)
It must be no more than 5 inches across in any direction.
It must be submitted with a loop or hook suitable for displaying the ornament in our window.
Include with submission: your name, phone number, and email address so that we can contact you if you are the winner. (We’ll have a form available at the shop, which you can choose to use for your convenience.)
Ornaments must be dropped off and picked up in person, no mail in submissions or returns.
Limit: No more than two entries per person.
You can use this link to get a handy download that includes all of these details.
And then don’t forget to stop by during Winter Walk to see the display and vote for your favorite!
Do you have a few WIPs that have been in progress too long? How many do you think you could finish in a month and a half if you committed to it?
Our annual Fall Finishing Frenzy starts on October 15 and ends at midnight on November 30. Finishers can share their success and collect a reward at a party on Sunday, December 1 from 3 – 4:30 pm.
Fill out this form to join the frenzy or sign up in the shop!
Knit Purl Hunter KAL
Knit Purl Hunter’s last KAL begins on October 10th. The first part of the pattern for the asymmetrical shawl will be released on the Knit Purl Hunter Web site at https://knitpurlhunter.com/blog/ on October 10th, with subsequent parts of the pattern released weekly. More info can also be found in the KnitPurlHunter Ravelry Group.
This KAL uses Skacel Simplicity Spray or Simplicity Tonal as the main yarn, along with Simplicity Solid. Yarn is available for purchase in the shop. Join us during Open Stitch time on Thursday evenings in October to work on the KAL together.
Shiftalong Hat KAL
Our “Shiftalong” KAL Runs August 30 – Sept 13. We are using Andrea Mowry’s Shiftalong Hat pattern. There is no cost and no need to register to be a part of the Knit-a-Long (KAL), just show up with your pattern and yarn! We’ll be meeting on 3 Fridays: August 30, September 6, and September 13, from 10:00am to 12:00pm for a little social knitting time, while we work on our hats.
There will not be any formal instruction during the KAL knitting time, but others may be willing to share tips and tricks that they have learned while on their own knitting adventure.
We currently have the Knitting My Way Home Trunk Show in the shop (until September 15th) featuring Sharon Knutson’s gorgeous fiber and homespun yarn, she has created kits for this hat, with one skein of color-changing homespun and one skein of a solid colored homespun to make your hat. Fun Fact it takes Sharon 8 -10+ hours of spinning and processing time per hank of handspun!!
You can come see Sharon giving a spinning demonstration during Defeat of Jesse James Days. She will be taking part in the KAL on September 6th and doing spinning demonstrations on September 7th.
Keep a look out for our next KAL, coming in October we will be knitting along with Knit Purl Hunter!
