Fiber artist Lisa Daehlin, who lives in New York City but has family ties to Minnesota, will be in town this weekend, and she needs your help with her latest project this Saturday, October 29! If you want to contribute but are unable to come to the shop on Saturday, please e-mail laura@northfieldyarn.com.
Here's a message directly from Lisa about her work:
I continue to make more Crochet Mandalas and am working towards an exhibition next spring in NYC. I make these round crochet/heart-filled circles (mandalas) of yarn gifted to me by other knitters. Yarn that is left over from other projects.
So… WHAT I SEEK IS: “YARN WITH A STORY”.
If you’d like to contribute some yarn for the project, please come to Northfield Yarn with your donation on Saturday 29th October from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm and I’d be happy to meet you and tell you more about the project.
HERE’S WHAT I ASK OF YOU, dear contributor of yarn:
- You bring some quantity of yarn (10 yards to a ball or two of yarn; DK, worsted, chunky are all ok sizes).
- I will take a photo of you holding the yarn (if you prefer to not have your face in the photo, I can focus on your hands and the yarn)
- I will take a very short video of you telling the “story of the yarn” (e.g., “this yarn is left over from the sweater I knitted for my friend for a holiday gift”, or “this is the yarn I bought on vacation, but never found a project to use it”, etc.). Again, can include your face as you speak, or just focus on your hands/yarn.
:-)
Yours in yarn (and song),
Lisa Daehlin
