Unlock the mysteries of cables in this single-session technique class! You'll learn how to work a cable stitch and read cable instructions, both written and charted. We'll also share plenty of tips and tricks to get you cabling with confidence!
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner. To be successful in this class, knitters should be comfortable working both knit and purl stitches and distinguishing them on the needles.
Supplies to bring to class:
(registered students receive 10% off class supply purchases, excluding patterns)
- Yarn: About 20 yards of any smooth, light-colored yarn; DK, worsted, or bulky recommended.
- Needles: Single-point or circular needles in a size appropriate for the yarn (the practice swatch is worked flat)
- 1 cable needle (the J-shaped style is recommended)
- 1 locking stitch marker
Homework:
Please work the following prior to the start of class:
Cast on 30 sts.
Rows 1-4: Knit.
Row 5: k4, p1, k4, p2, k8, p2, k4, p1, k4.
Row 6: p4, k1, p4, k2, p8, k2, p4, k1, p4.
Leave on needles and bring to class.
