Learn to knit a seamless gansey sweater. Often referred to as a “fisherman’s sweater”, the gansey was prevalently worn in the 19th and early 20th centuries by fishermen in the British Isles. In this class, we will knit a wee (toddler or child size) gansey sweater with circularly knit knit/purl patterning, seam stitches, underarm gussets, shoulder extensions, and ribbed cuff, neckband, and bottom edge. We will also discuss alternate cast-on edges, variations on the gussets, and shoulder treatments.
Skill Level: Participants should have the ability to cast on, knit, purl, increase, and decrease.
