Intro to Brioche: 2 Mondays (5/16, 5/23), 5:30-7:30pm
Intro to Brioche Stitch
Instructor: Cassie LaFollette
Dates: 2 Mondays: May 16 & 23; 5:30 - 7:30pm
Brioche is delightfully squishy and soft, but it can be challenging for knitters who are trying it for the first time. Get ready to fall in love with brioche stitch as you learn all the basics in this two-session class!
Instructor Cassie LaFollette has written two simple brioche patterns, a headband and hat, and she will guide you through each of them, first learning to knit brioche flat, then learning to knit brioche in-the-round—along with helpful tips along the way. Each will give you the building blocks you need to knit brioche with confidence!
Skill Level: To be successful in this class, you should have experience knitting in the round, be able to recognize knit and purl stitches when they are on your needles, and be familiar with yarn-overs.
Supplies to bring to class:
- DK weight yarn (Luma by the Fibre Co. is recommended); Headband: approx. 50y in your color of choice and Hat: approx. 65-165y, depending on the size you choose to knit, in your color of choice
- Straight needles in size US 6 (4.0 mm)
- 16” Circular needles in size US 6 (4.0 mm)
- Waste yarn (optional)
- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle
The headband pattern will be provided for free at the first class session. The hat pattern is available on Ravelry as $5 PDF download. You can find it at this link.
Headband: No homework.
Hat: Please work the cast-on and setup round before the second class.
