From KnittingTraditions.com:

Ganseys were worn by the fishermen of England and Scotland in the 19th century. They were knitted by the wives, mothers, and sisters of the fishermen, and there were men who knitted them as well. In addition, the fisher-lassies who followed the fleets and packed the fish, also knitted these beautiful, practical garments, while spreading the patterns far and wide in their travels.

This new version includes nine garment designs, and the book is hardcover and in color. (Note: Interweave chose to not include my three children’s designs from the original book, but you can purchase them separately on this website.) The book designer was so skillful in creating a pleasing, calm, and elegant feel to the book. There are 200 color photos and 25 black and white photos. I added information to some of the techniques to make their execution clearer, and included  more historic photographs and more history. The design chapter has been tweaked to CYC standards. You’ll find the construction techniques can be as simple or challenging as you wish, when designing your own garment.

The little sampler gansey is still an integral part of the book. Each chapter guides you through every step of the construction techniques of this wonderful learning tool.  I am so pleased with how it turned out and I hope that you will enjoy this latest offering!
