Lee Sartori’s Wild Child Cardy is a relaxed-fit statement garment made up of color pop squares. With a boxy silhouette and simple collar shape, all the attention is on the beautiful floral details of the squares and coordinating edgings. Mood-boosting colors and a finer yarn weight make this project a fun creative challenge. This cardigan’s wow factor will add me-made joy to any summer outfit.
The cardigan is made from individual squares worked separately and then sewn together. Seaming starts at the shoulders, adding the sleeves then sewing the side seams from the hem to the armpit, and then from the armpit to the cuff. Once joined, a further cuff is added to the sleeve in rounds, then a border is added to the outside edge of the cardigan in one round. A final edge is added to the neck, and a hem is added in rows to the bottom of the cardigan.
